Privacy

Fieldbase does not collect any data about you, and we receive nothing from the app. There is no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Fieldbase has no server of its own.

What Stays on Your Device

Your chats, notes, saved places and paths, imported documents and PDFs, photos you take or import, voice recordings and their transcripts, saved maps and forecasts, and settings are stored only on your iPhone. The assistant runs on the phone, so your questions to it are answered there. Deleting the app removes this data. Because we hold no copy, we cannot retrieve or delete it for you.

Permissions

Camera: used only when you choose to take a photo. The photo is examined on the phone.

Microphone and speech recognition: used to record a short voice message and transcribe it on the phone only. If no offline language is available, the recording is not sent anywhere to be transcribed.

Location while using the app: used to show your coordinates and direction, save places and paths, and prepare nearby water, places and maps. Your location leaves the phone only in the cases listed below.

What Leaves Your Device, and When

All of the following happen only while you are connected to the internet and the app is open. None of them include your name, an account or an advertising identifier.

Online answers (on unless you turn it off). For some factual questions, Fieldbase sends the text of that one question to Microsoft Bing search and reads up to three of the websites it returns. Exact coordinates, email addresses, web addresses and long numbers are removed from the question first. It does not send your chat history, your phone's location or text from your documents. Urgent safety questions are answered from saved guidance without searching. Turn this off in the Fieldbase menu under Online answers.

Nearby water, places and paths. When you ask for nearby water while online, turn on "Prepare my area while using Fieldbase" (off until you turn it on), or save walking paths for a trip, Fieldbase sends the coordinates of the area around you (within about 5 kilometres, or 3 miles), or of the area between your start and destination, to OpenStreetMap data services (overpass-api.de, and api.openstreetmap.org as a backup).

Weather. With area preparation turned on and Wi-Fi connected, Fieldbase sends your position rounded to about 1 kilometre to the United States National Weather Service (api.weather.gov) to save a local forecast.

State map suggestion. When you are online and have allowed location, Fieldbase asks Apple's location service which state you are in (no more than about every five minutes, or sooner if you move), so it can suggest the right offline map. Apple handles this under Apple's terms.

Downloads you choose. Offline maps you pick are downloaded from bundle.tiles.coalition.space; the request names the map you chose, not your coordinates. Reference PDFs you pick are downloaded from their original publishers, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Ready.gov and the National Park Service.

As with any internet request, these services can see your device's internet (IP) address. Each handles requests under its own privacy policy. Fieldbase sends us nothing.

When You Share

Places, coordinates, path files and extracted document text leave your device only when you tap Share and choose where they go. Path files include your precise locations and times.

Reminders

Readiness reminders are local notifications that your iPhone schedules and shows itself. Nothing about them is sent to us.

Safety

Fieldbase gives general information. It is not a substitute for emergency services, medical care or local authorities, and it does not contact rescuers for you. In an emergency, call your local emergency number (911 in the United States).

Children

We collect nothing, so we hold no data on anyone of any age.

This Website

This website (not the app) counts page visits with GoatCounter, which does not use cookies or identify you.

If This Changes

If we ever add anything that collects data, we will say so here before it ships. Effective Wednesday, November 4, 2026.
