Privacy Policy

For the Shree Hanuman Chalisa (English) app for iPhone and iPad, and for this website. Last updated 5 October 2026.

The short version: we collect nothing. No ads. No accounts. No analytics. No tracking. We do not know who you are or what you read.

The iPhone and iPad App

The app has no accounts, no ads and no analytics, and it contains no third-party code. It never sends anything about you to us or to anyone else. The text of the hymn is inside the app, so it works with no internet connection.

The app keeps two things on your phone so it can open where you left off: the verse you last read, and the choices you made in Settings (whether to show the Hindi and the Hindi in English letters). They are stored in the app's own space on your phone. We cannot see them. Deleting the app deletes them, and so does "Forget My Place" in Settings.

The app asks for no permissions. It does not use your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or notifications.

What We Collect

Nothing. No name, email address, location, device identifier, usage data or crash data.

Links That Leave the App

Settings has three links: this privacy policy, a page with a source for the Hindi text, and the help page. Each one opens in your browser, and that site's own privacy rules apply once you are there. The app itself sends them nothing about you.

Sharing a Verse

The Share button opens your iPhone's own share sheet. What you send, and to whom, is your choice, and it goes through the app you pick (Messages, Mail and so on), not through us. We never see it.

This Website

This website has no ads, no accounts, no analytics and no cookies. To keep your place, the reader saves one small note in your own browser, the name of the verse you were on, for example "chaupai-12". It never leaves your device. Clearing your browser's site data removes it. After your first visit the site also keeps a copy of its pages on your device so it can open offline.

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may keep ordinary server logs of visits to the site. We do not receive them, and we do not add any tracking of our own.

Children

The app and the site ask for no information from anyone, so we hold nothing about children or adults. The app is not made for children, but a parent reading it with a child is welcome.

If This Changes

If we ever add anything that collects data, this page will say so before the app or the site does.
